Why Letter Parade?
About two years ago we started developing little games for iPhone and iPad because we have a fascination for the platform and the devices. Letter Parade was conceived as our own children got to the age where they were interested in learning to read and write.
They got to that point before they went to school and started to learn about it there, so we thought it would be fun to make something that would allow children to experience before they went to school. And because there seemed to be a lot of "writing" apps but very few apps that learned how to spell in a correct way, we made our own.
Letter Parade actually follows the learning methods (letter order, word sets) that are used in education. We did research for the Dutch sets in Belgian schools and for English sets in British schools. There will probably be slight differences with what happens in the Netherlands or the United States for example, but we believe they are minor and will not impede your children to use the app.
On top of that we've tried to build in a number of options that let you fine tune the app exactly as you need for your children. This includes being able to choose between capitals or lower letters, being able to group combinations of letters as they typically learn at school, and ways to show hints to those that are really new to spelling.
